Construction firms seek easier communications
Wednesday, January 25, 2012 - 5:00pm

Recent reporting by Constructech indicates that firms are interested in making information widely available, prompting software providers to develop solutions for the problem. One such remedy to a fractured communication chain is document management software, designed to make information accessible digitally across a company's entire operation.

"Everything associated with a job, from emails to RFIs to change orders, holds essential data valuable to at least one constituent on a project," said the news source. "Technology that can help bring it all together in a way that can be easily shared across the team will be of most value moving forward."

What is document management software and how can it help? Simply put, document management software enables the storage of all of an organization's information without the use of paper records. The advantages of the system are many and varied.

If a document is digital, it can easily be stored in the cloud and shared between the various parts of a company, which is important if a construction firm takes a job far from its office. Online documents are also easily and instantly retrievable if there is need to show compliance with laws or regulations.
