Retail is growing, with large chains once associated with stability now branching out into new strategies to introduce different, novel retail experiences. Spearheading the movement is J.C. Penney, which is currently changing its store layouts, its logo and its pricing scheme to re-enter the market fresh.
"The department store is the number one opportunity in retail today,” said JCP CEO Ron Johnson. “We are going to rethink every aspect of our business, boldly pursue change, and create long-term shareholder value, as we become America's favorite store."
Forbes also reports that Walgreens is experimenting with new strategies at its flagship store, delineating different areas with varying lighting schemes and turning its back on the homogeneous look that defined it before.
This time of change for businesses could be a time for them to upgrade their facilities maintenance software. With entire chains set to evolve, corporate officers with correctly integrated facilities maintenance software may stand to gain, as new data flowing in from all corners of an organization could hold valuable information about the status of such a large-scale project.
